Quote of the Issue
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
-- Harold Wilson
Welcome to the latest issue of The LawsonGuru Letter, a free newsletter providing provocative commentary on issues important to the Lawson Software community.  The LawsonGuru Letter is published by--and is solely the opinion of--John Henley of Decision Analytics.
Cloud Experience?
Has anyone made the switch from S3 locally installed to the cloud? What were the pros and cons? We are on Lawson 9.0.1 and preparing for our Infor 10 upgrade. Read More...
Receiving Best Practices
We have our process concerning receiving goods from the outside and into Lawson. We also have our process for managing the packing lists from all of the incoming receipts. We are wondering how some of the other Lawson users manage the incoming goods and the paperwork associated with the receipt. Read More...
Patch Management Strategies?
We're new to Lawson (went live 3 months ago) and are trying to formalize a patch management process. Right now, we're basically applying CTPs to fix errors as fast as we can when users bring them to our attention, testing (minimal) and then pushing them to production. We keep a spreadsheet with patch/reason/env/date ... What are most people doing as far as timing/testing/documentation? Is there a 'best practice' for patch management in a Lawson environment?  Read More...
Requisition Approvals - Vacation Handling and Approver Maintenance
We are building out a requisition approval process in our organization and would appreciate any advice other organizations might have on two topics. For reference we are a multi-hospital and clinic organization. How do you handle managers on vacation? The constraint is that the person who can approve must be at the same or higher level in the org. Do you always specify a backup? Have some sort of delegation process? Allow to escalate? How do you maintain your task filters when approvers change? Who notifies of the changes, maintains the filters, etc? Read More...
